LUKA MWANGI

Mr. Luka Mwangi Wanjohi is an information technology professional with over ten years’ experience working in research and development in sub-Saharan Africa. His areas of expertise include developing, implementing, training, and supporting end users on new and improved technologies. He has overseen successful deployments of improved information and knowledge management technologies for research and development (plant breeding, seed systems, and social sciences) in over 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including various counties in Kenya.

Luka is currently working as a senior regional knowledge and data manager for the International Potato Center (CIP), an agricultural research for development organisation. Headquartered in Lima, Peru, CIP is a member of the global Consortium for Agricultural Research (CGIAR). While at CIP, Luka has interacted and worked closely with partners at the Boyce Thomson Institute (BTI) at Cornell University in Ithaca New York, the horticulture department of the North Carolina State University (NCSU) and Nafudi software company formerly based in Seattle but now operating from San Diego. Luka works closely on a day-to-day basis with various National Agricultural Research Programs (NARIs) in Africa, developing and supporting data and information management activities.

Luka has a Master of Science degree in Information Technology Management from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Moi University, Kenya. After his undergraduate studies, he worked as a founding technology director for an ICT startup in Nairobi that specialized in rural ICT solutions for local governments and farmer organizations in Kenya.
Luka has been a member of the Board of Management at the Little Star Learning Center since 2015, where he is mostly supporting operations teams.
