Ms. Rachel N. Wanjohi has over six years of experience in Strategic Communication as well as government and public affairs stakeholder engagement. She is an outstanding performer in Government, Civil Society and Community engagement, Communication, Compliance, and Event Management, across various industries, from education, mining to oil and gas.
Ms. Rachel is currently a Government, Public Affairs and Communications consultant with Tullow Oil, an independent oil and gas company headquartered in London and with operations in Africa and South America. Before joining Tullow Oil in 2017, Rachel worked as a communications consultant at Africa Practice East Africa Limited, a strategic advisory firm that supplies insights and advocacy solutions to corporations, investors, governments, and foundations in Africa. In the course of her work, Rachel has exhibited high integrity and professionalism as well as respect for diversity, particularly given the multi-cultural nature of these organisations.
Additionally, Rachel has a passion for working with the vulnerable and the less fortunate in society. She has volunteered in different Children’s homes, among them being Families Orphans and Children Under Stress (FOCUS) children’s home in Ruiru, Kenya, as well as the Children’s remand centre in Nakuru, Kenya. Additionally, she is a registered United Nations Online Volunteer as well as a volunteer administrator of the Regional Mega Projects Coordinating Council, a multi-stakeholder open platform with the aim of understanding all the Infrastructure Mega-Projects planned for Kenya in the coming five to ten years.
Ms. Rachel is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Kenyatta University, Kenya. She holds a First Class Honours, Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Community Development Studies from Egerton University, Kenya. She is also a trained and certified fire marshall, as well as a trained peer counsellor with I Choose Life Africa.
