Mrs. Lucy M. Wanjohi is a seasoned educator with over 35 years of experience in the education sector. She has a vast experience working with children of different age groups ranging from pre-school children, primary school children as well as teenagers and young adults.
Prior to establishing Little Star Learning Centre, Mrs. Wanjohi worked in different institutions among them being Mama Ngina Children’s home – a school that provides institutional care and outreach services for orphaned and vulnerable children ranging in age from 0 to young adults; Glad Toto ECDE College – and institution that offers pre-school education as well as an ECDE teachers’ training centre; and Baringo Teachers’ ECDE college.
Mrs. Wanjohi has an exceptional ability to handle children and their parents, particularly those with difficult family backgrounds. More often than not, she assumes the role of a counsellor, helping both the pupils and their parents navigate the difficulties of life. Her passion for helping people has seen her volunteer at organisations like the Nyumba ya wazee (home for the elderly) – a home established and run under the St. John’s Community Centre (an organisation that seeks to empower vulnerable communities to effectively address root causes of poverty and injustices for the attainment of sustainable livelihoods).
Mrs. Wanjohi holds a Bachelor of Education Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kenyatta University and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Kilimambogo Teachers’ College. She also holds a certificate in Theological Education by Extension, a program that seeks to enhance Bible knowledge amongst individual members.
