REV. JOSEPH WANJOHI *
Founding Director
The late Rev. Joseph Wanjohi Mwangi was a trained mechanical engineer with over 24 years of experience. Throughout his life, he worked for Avery Kenya Limited holding different positions with the last one being branch manager at Kenya Scales Limited right before his retirement in 2006.
Upon his retirement, Rev. Wanjohi joined his wife in the running of Little Star Learning Centre. He was a man of integrity, and throughout his work, he was keen on ensuring accountability and transparency in operations. He ensured that all activities at the institution begun and ended in prayer, even guiding the school motto, i.e., “Arise and Shine” which is based on scripture (Isaiah 60:1). He instilled these virtues in the school management team as well as the staff members, something that has set Little Star Learning Centre apart from other institutions in the area.
Rev. Wanjohi dedicated his life to the work of God and was an ordained priest who served with the Anglican Church as an attached clergy for over 25 years until his retirement in 2017. Throughout his ministry life, his integrity shone through as he insisted on serving voluntarily and refusing to accept any form of payment from the church. He had a passion for helping those in need, and notably, Rev. Wanjohi sponsored several students to both primary education as well as college education throughout his life, and in the days to his demise, several students were in school courtesy of him.
Rev. Wanjohi held a National Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Mombasa Polytechnic, Kenya, as well as the Kenya Polytechnic. For theological studies, he had a certificate in religious studies from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He also attended seminars and evening classes at Mombasa Tabernacle in 1971 and 1972; Nairobi Bible Institute in 1975 & 1976; and Theological Education by Extension (TEE) at both the diocesan and parish levels between 1984 and 1986.
